I started competing in the Seattle Youth Poetry Slam, and made it on to the Seattle Team. One 17-year old, 3 18-year olds, and one 19-year old. The greatest kids I've had the pleasure to meet.
We just got back from Nationals in Wash D.C which was a crazy mind blowing experience. If you get enough booze in me, I'll tell you all about it.
Speaking of alcohol, I've been perpetually inebriated this entire Summer. I wouldn't say its been the most productive vacation, but definitely the most entertaining+memorable.
I'll be submitting some more slam poetry/spoken word so check that out, and I have one painting not yet uploaded.
In the personal aspect of life, I'm moving out of the kickass party house back with my parents to get my shit together before school starts again. I can't have a repeat of last years massive slack attack. I'm also newly single. In February, Candyce proposed to me, and it was almost a week after that, the breakup ensued. We still live together with the roomies, so we've had to make it work. She's still super close to my heart. I've been playing that fun thing called dating again.
Let's hope it doesn't get old too quick, I'm kind of enjoying it.
Hope you all are well!
Mary

"In order to live, in order to justify living, we can't just fill the space of our lives with empty amusement, with pointless light and sound and words- we're going to have to try harder now."
- Al Burian

[that is just the way we are]
everything is beautiful, let the music carry you
maybe i will follow you forever, ever
nowhere else i'd rather be, when you're lying next to me
let the music carry us together, together
